focus
I provide analytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults in the Washington and Bellingham area. Analytic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis is a unique form of treatment that can foster personal development and freedom from unsatisfying or painful patterns of living. You and I will work together in collaboration in our exploration where the therapeutic relationship can set in motion a process of personal transformation. No label or diagnosis can define your personal experience. And no list or diagnosis can encapsulate how you define yourself or your story. We look at your experience together and work to understand why you may be experiencing and feeling.

specifics
fees/payment
Therapy is a place to better understand yourself, to free yourself of unwanted insecurities, feelings, ideas; and it should be affordable. Access to insight and new understanding is important for your process. I charge market rate per 50-minute session. If you are bound by financial limitations but have the desire and drive to invest yourself in therapy, we can discuss fee options and potential sliding scale. I have a limited number of reduced fee slots for those who experience financial hardship.
Payment is due at the beginning of each session in cash or check; please have check written before we begin.
If it's easier on you to pre-pay for the desired number of sessions, that is certainly an option.
insurance
I am currently a self-pay practice. I do not work directly with insurance companies. This isn't always a bad thing. What this means for you is that the work we do together, often stays between you and I. It also means that we can fluidly visit your story in ways that are not governed by the managed medical care system. There is no need to provide a diagnosis or badger the insurance company for coverage. This simplifies our financial interaction.
However, if you do decide to use your insurance for our work together, please contact your provider directly to find out if they offer reimbursement for self pay mental health services. More often than not, reimbursement is available for out of pocket expenses, including psychotherapy.
